The Da Capo Singers are based in Berwick; and have established a strong reputation within Melbourne's choral community for their eclectic repertoire and performances of high standard.
Founded in 1997, the original members of Da Capo Singers were graduates of the Berwick Youth Choir, one of Australia's leading children's choirs. The singers wished to continue to perform together, and to continue to sing quality repertoire to the most exacting standards possible. The choir now welcomes members from a range of backgrounds, who share this commitment to quality.
The choir sings a diverse repertoire, including art music of all styles and periods (but particularly the music of our own time), folk songs of many cultures, and occasional excursions into gospel and jazz. They have a particular commitment to the music of Australian composers, their performances including several world premieres.
The choir's credits include performances at Hamer Hall, Etihad Stadium and Rod Laver Arena; having twice been invited to perform at Choralfest, Australia's only national choral festival; the release of their first CD "Dawn"; several tours to regional Victoria; and many performances for local community events and festivals; in addition to their annual concert series.
